On April 22nd, members of the Charlotte County Democratic Club honored Earth Day by picking up four bags of trash and debris from the roadside and ditches along Olean Blvd from Beacon St. to Kings Hwy. The Club services this road throughout the year as a participant in the “Adopt a Road” program, keeping Charlotte County beautiful. Club members who participated were Marvin Covey, Roxanne Moore, John Washburn, (pictured) along with Al and Elaine Lubiner and Nancy Razvoza. Join the Club by completing this application.
The Charlotte County Environmental Caucus participated in the “Clean Up the Park” event in honor of Earth Day at Live Oak Point Park. In addition to the clean-up efforts, they demonstrated a citizen scientist project involving water monitoring in Charlotte Harbor. This project is part of a worldwide effort of Earth ECHO Water Challenge, with over 1.5 million people in 146 countries measuring water quality. By learning to test the water, you can be a part of this project and sign up to test bodies of water near you. If you are interested in the Caucus or collecting and testing water samples, please contact Phyllis Wojcik at [email protected].
