As the citizens of Hawaii tragically die in unprecedented wildfires and we on the mainland face record-breaking heat with ocean temperatures above 100 F, the DeSantis administration is now peddling climate lies to our kids.
The conservative Prager University Foundation is spreading misinformation about climate change and other subjects to young Florida schoolchildren. The group’s animated films claim that current global heating is part of natural long-term cycles, a myth widely dispelled by climate scientists.
Despite its name, Prager is not an academic institution and does not confer degrees. The group, which receives substantial funding from Dan and Farris Wilks, two petroleum industry businessmen, has been accused by reputable scientists of spreading climate science denial. Governor DeSantis, who has referred to climate science as “left wing stuff,” oversees the first state in the country to adopt textbooks by Prager.
To sum up, our kids are being fed false climate change propaganda from a fake “University” funded by entities associated with the fossil fuel industry.
Shame on our Governor for promoting such lies in our schools!
