DWC presents scholarships

On July 17 the Democratic Women’s Club (DWC)  Scholarship Committee formally presented two $1000 scholarships to recent Port Charlotte High School graduates, Tien Thuy Le and Taylor Torres, at a luncheon held at The Perfect Caper restaurant in Punta Gorda.  The DWC Scholarship Committee chose the recipients from several applicants who submit essays about “Why Women in Politics Matter.” Scholarship Committee members say, “It is fascinating to read the passion and commitment described by these young women.”

For several years the DWC of Charlotte County has provided financial support for young Democratic women as they graduate from high school and begin their college careers.  DWC members strive to build relationships with the scholarship recipients and share in their college and life successes.

 

 

Currently, the DWC has a $5000 Matching Grant program to help build and support the scholarship effort.  If anyone would like to donate, simply write the check to the DWC Scholarship Fund and write “matching grant” on the check’s memo line.  Send it to:
