Dr. Rishi Desai and
US House Representative, Donna Shalala
during a virtual town hall meeting to discuss COVID – 19.
“During a crisis, America requires leadership and sound advice that prepares our nation for resilience.” Ellison said. “Implementing science and evidence based practices during a pandemic is exactly why we heed advice from Dr. Desai and Congresswoman Shalala.”
Dr. Rishi Desai is the Chief Medical Officer for the health education platform, Osmosis.org, a pediatric infectious disease physician, a practicing tele-health physician, and a former Epidemic Intelligence Officer with the CDC. Recently, Dr. Desai’s Fox News interview went viral for his no-holds-barred criticism of the current administration’s response to the global pandemic. “Many people are undiagnosed and there are many people who haven’t been tested. These numbers are likely to climb.”, said Dr. Desai.
“The opening up of golf courses, in my judgment, makes no sense. We don’t have a statewide strategy.”, say Rep. Shalala. Congresswoman Donna Shalala currently represents Florida’s 27th district and is a former Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). On April 17, 2020, Rep. Shalala was appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to serve on the COVID-19 Congressional Oversight Commission to oversee the implementation of the CARES Act.
