Despite the torrential rainstorms, more than twenty local Democrats huddled at Englewood’s End Zone Sports Grille to watch Night 1 of the Democratic Presidential Debates. Thursday’s Night 2 debate will be held there also. Click here to register. https://www.mobilize.us/charlottecountydec/event/96530/
Organized by Precinct 47 Co-Captain Karen Fisk, the first of the two-night debate series was a fun way to learn more about the candidates. Attendees began arriving around 8:00 p.m. to enjoy cocktails, appetizers, and some light-hearted camaraderie.
Precinct 54 Co-Captain Paul Edward Anarumo stated that the back room at the End Zone “is a perfect place for the watch party.”
Once the debate started, everyone listened intently to the candidates, comparing notes and feedback during commercial breaks. The room was excited and energized to hear the positions of the candidates. Pam Hurley of Placida commented that the two-hour debate was “a great opportunity to hear from these ten candidates about their ideas for moving our country forward. Each of them shared thoughtful solutions.”
Some feedback from the group was that the talent pool ran deep in night one. Some had favorite candidates that performed well, while others mentioned that they are looking more closely at candidates that were not already high on their list.
