Environmentalists demand we preserve water quality on Earth Day

The Englewood Democratic Club, the Democratic Environmental Caucus and Englewood Indivisibles  came together to conduct an orderly and peaceful Earth Day demonstration around the phosphate mining issue in light of the Piney Point disaster, the effects of which are yet to be known.  About 50 like minded citizens who want our waters to remain clean rallied Thursday, April 22 between 5 -6 pm at the corner of Dearborn and Route 776. Two folks came all the way from Lake Suzy to join the protest

Many great signs said things like urge the “EPA To Superfund All Florida Gypstacks”, “No More Phosphate Mining, as well as signs protesting water bills in our Florida legislature that jeopardize our right to clean water.
