FL Rep. Steube doesn’t care about YOU

As of Sunday, March 15, there were 106 Florida residents diagnosed with coronavirus with 5 cases in Lee County, 5 cases in Collier and one in Charlotte. Three Florida residents have died.

On Saturday morning, March 14, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a broadly bi-partisan coronavirus relief package. Forty House members, all Republican, voted against it, including Rep. Greg Steube.

Steube stated the bill was “filled with policy positions I could not in good conscience support.”

Rep. Steube could not support: free virus testing for those without insurance; expanded unemployment benefits; two weeks of paid sick leave; or increased Medicaid payments. He could not support steps to stabilize the economy.

How Every House Member Voted on the Coronavirus Relief Bill

The House voted 363-40 early on Saturday to pass a coronavirus relief package, a move that came after the World Health Organization declared the virus a pandemic. The bill includes free virus testing for those who lack insurance, paid sick leave, family and medical leave programs, enhanced unemployment benefits, additional food aid and federal funds for Medicaid.

Meanwhile:
Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz didn’t vote at all as he is currently self-quarantined. But before votes were cast, Gaetz stated he was opposed to the legislation including “poison pills” and “provisions that forever change entitlement programs.”

Steube and Gaetz’ refusal to make the health and safety of Florida residents a priority is a disgrace.
