Parkland students to hold town hall in Punta Gorda

Students and alumni from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will stop in Punta Gorda on Tuesday on their “Road to Change” bus tour.

The nationwide tour will take the group across the country and to each of Florida’s congressional districts. Charlotte County will be its fifth stop in the state.

Florida voters will have many more choices on 2018 ballot

Florida may or may not see a blue wave this fall, but it’s already experiencing a new wave.

A flood of new candidates for seats in the state Legislature, many of them Democratic women, met Friday’s deadline to get on the ballot and give voters many more choices than in past election cycles.

Democratic candidates recently talked politics with Charlotte residents over brunch. The event was hosted by the Charlotte County Democratic Party. Local Democratic candidates Olivia Babis, Catherine Price and Joan Fischer attended to talk to interested voters and Democrats.
