The Democratic National Convention will take place on Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16, 2020, in Milwaukee, WI. While the convention is over a year away, it’s not too early to start planning if you would like to become a delegate.
The Florida delegation will include 248 delegates and 18 alternates. The delegates will include Congressional District, At-large, Pledged, Standing Committee, Credentials, Platform, and Rules delegates. The contingent will also include the Chair and pages.
Congressional District 17 will have 4 delegates (two men and two women). There will be a total of 143 Congressional delegates and 13 alternates, elected during a Congressional District Caucus on May 2, 2020. The voters in District 17 will vote at a location or locations to be determined in District 17. Congressional Chair Thomas Garner and his committee members are currently exploring potential sites. Please let Tom Garner know if you are interested in being a volunteer for this important event.
Applications for submitting your name as a delegate candidate will be available online in February 2020. Applications will need to be submitted between February 3 and April 7, 2020.
Reminder: The State run “Presidential Preference Primary” is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
