Steube’s concern for ‘protesters’ misplaced

It’s truly remarkable that a U.S. congressman representing Sarasota (editor:..and Charlotte) County appears to sympathize with insurrectionists who attacked the U.S. Capitol attempting to thwart the constitutional duties of Congress.

U.S. Rep. Greg Steube has forgotten he swore an oath to defend the Constitution. What should that be called?

Steube reported that he sent a letter to the Federal Bureau of Prisons concerned about the prison conditions of the very people who attacked our Capitol. He called the insurrection we all saw a “protest at the U.S. Capitol” and he was concerned about holding nonviolent protesters “in solitary confinement or extreme conditions.”

This is the same person who said he barricaded himself cowering behind a table in a Capitol conference room on Jan.6. Evidently, he did this to avoid the “protest.”

What kind of person does this? A patriot?

Tough Steube urged President Joe Biden to stand up to Russian hackers and said he “needs to cowboy up.” Well, tough “cowboy” congressman, where were you the previous four years when we let Vladimir Putin run all over us?

Mr. Steube, you are a U.S. congressman. Start acting like one. Think of your district and country.
