The Democratic Women’s Club collects holiday donations for Charlotte County homeless moms

Every year the Democratic Women’s Club (DWC) of Charlotte County collects gift cards and personal items, such as lotions, soaps, and shampoos for the homeless mothers whose children attend Charlotte Public Schools. Gift cards for grocery stores, supercenter stores, or gas stations are especially appreciated. If you would like to donate to the DWC’s 2021 collection, there are several ways to contribute by December 11.

· Send a gift card or check to Judith Orlowski, DWC Treasurer at 1181 Dewhurst Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Make the checks out to the DWC and include a note or memo on the check, indicating it is for the holiday homeless donations.

· Drop a donation off in the designated box (pictured) at the Charlotte County Democratic Club located on the first floor of 3596 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte FL 33952 (Sunnydell Plaza). The club is open M-F 10:00 until noon.

If you are a member of the DWC:

· Bring a gift bag or gift card enclosed in a greeting card to the DWC’s holiday gathering on December 13.

The DWC will deliver the gift cards and other gift items to the Charlotte County School’s homeless program following our December 13 event. The school personnel will then distribute the donations.

Last year we collected over $1000 in gift cards and donations to share the spirit of the holiday with some mothers facing very difficult circumstances. We hope to bring some cheer and comfort this year as well. The DWC appreciates all donations.
