The 3rd bill to address the COVID-19 pandemic is called the ‘‘Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act’’ or the “HEROES Act”. It was already approved more than a month ago by the US House of Representatives but now sits languishing, awaiting the Senate to take action which Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell opposes. We need to put pressure on our two Republican senators from the great state of Florida to bring this bill to the floor for a vote.
It’s worth noting that our 17th Congressional District would receive almost a half-a-billion dollars over the two years of the HEROES Act allocations. You can see state-by-state and local government impacts here. The estimated economic stimulus for Charlotte County alone exceeds $105 million over 2020 and 2021. The HEROES Act also extends the $600/week unemployment benefit to January 2021; these benefits currently expire in July for Floridians.
Call Senator Rubio at (202) 224-3941 and Senator Rick Scott at (202) 224-5274 and put the pressure on them! Republicans must not be holding up this critically needed relief.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
