Dr. Richard Whitman will review the status and trends of recreational water quality of Charlotte County beaches at the next monthly meeting of the Environmental Caucus on Tuesday, April 6th at 1:30 pm.

His presentation will point out specific concerns, the need for pollution source identification, more timely notification, increased advisory reliability, and examples of restoration initiatives.

Dr. Whitman is an internationally recognized expert in beach and shoreline ecology producing over 150 widely cited publications. After 40 years of studying aquatic ecosystems as a university professor and federal scientist he is now retired and living in Port Charlotte, FL.

Dr. Whitman continues to contribute and promote beach and nearshore sciences especially within the context of large scale changes in our environment.
