We must be more willing to share our wealth

The following Letter to the Editor was published in The Daily Sun on Dec 3, 2021.

The story about the couple in Port Charlotte needing to sleep in their car in the Nov. 27 edition of the Daily Sun broke my heart. I realize many Republicans and others feel that the “Biden Bill” is too expensive and that people who won’t work will take advantage of the system. They just might understand after your story that millions of people are desperate for help. They are not all looking to get something for nothing.

The bill, if left alone and passed without ripping it to pieces, might very well be a lifesaver for the whole country.

People who are fortunate to have plenty of money, not all of course, but far too many, just don’t understand that if they weren’t so greedy and paid their fair share, we more than likely would be able to have a far better country and not almost half of a hateful, miserable population forcing their hate on all.

I fear for the future of this country. It is not what I came to this country for. I have spent most of my life here and always loved what it stood for. Not so much today.

Dana Wolfe, Port Charlotte

Too many people who have plenty of money don’t understand that if they weren’t so greedy & paid their fair share, we would have a far better country.
