Commissioners’ questions are coming too late

The following Letter to the Editor was published in The Daily Sun on March 7, 2023.

I was in disbelief at this morning’s newspaper concerning the new Sunseeker Resort. Now the commissioners are “concerned” about traffic, parking, and finding 13,000 workers? Now you have questions? You are now concerned that our roads are not built for 200,000-plus more people? Where were these questions (or answers) 3-4 years ago when this plan was presented to you?

I don’t blame Sunseeker. They came into town and dazzled the commissioners who changed permits, zoning, gave away a park and sold their souls to this outfit. Public meetings were held. No citizens that I know of were in favor of this project. Sunseeker’s intent was to make money and build, not take care of Charlotte County or it’s citizens. That, commissioners, was your job.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I’m sure you won’t have a problem parking or getting an entrance into the VIP area of the new resort at any time. You can sit in the VIP section and watch the traffic on the bridge and toast your success. No concerns with premier parking.

The only concern you will have is getting reelected.
