Don’t spread misinformation out of fear

The following Letter to the Editor was published in The Daily Sun on December 28, 2021.

I believe America is for everyone, everyone who is born here is an American. No matter what their skin color or accent.

There seems to be another group who believe that America is for those who get here first. No, not the Indians. Those who came over on the Mayflower and other subsequent European invasions.

Some believe they are free to spread a deadly virus that has killed thousands or dress up in body armor and carry guns to state capitals. Some believe that looting and stealing and burning is OK because they are mad.

None of this is about freedom.

Some brain-dead senator said we should do away with all vaccine mandates so we can go back to the good old days of smallpox and polio killing and maiming our children.

They talk like all those deaths happen in a vacuum, it’s just one person but this isn’t true.

Parents, children, wives, husbands, friends all feel this loss in their life. Hundreds of residents lost their life’s last week in Florida but these deaths effect hundreds if not thousands of people.

Being brave is about putting yourself on the line for other people, like police and health care people do every day. Not hiding behind misinformation because you are flat out scared.
