The field of potential candidates for Congressional District 17 includes four who applied to the Florida Democratic Party by the Friday noon deadline:
Eileen Game of Avon Park, Allen Ellison of Sebring, Christopher Cause of Davenport, and Greg Pilkington of Indian Lake Estates.

Surprisingly, April Freeman’s opponent in the Democratic Primary, Bill Pollard, was not on the list of candidates.
Two other potential candidates, Pam Keith and Roy David Walker, are challenging the Florida statute that would prevent them from entering the field. Statute 100.111(3)(c) asserts that any person who was qualified for nomination or election in another election cannot run for a different position. Keith had unsuccessfully run for Congressional District 18. Walker lost his bid for State Agriculture Commissioner.

United States District Judge Elizabeth Kovachevich is expected to rule on their challenge in Tampa on Monday. The hearing is set for Monday, October 1, 12:00 noon, at the Federal Courthouse, 801 N Florida Ave, Tampa FL, Courtroom 14A.
