Take Action Today – Amendment 4 Is Under Attack

The issue:

Last November, years of tireless work paid off when Amendment 4 restored voting rights to 1.4 million Returning Citizens in Florida. Now, those voting rights may be in danger.

The House Criminal Justice Subcommittee in the Florida state legislature has voted to approve PCB CJR 19-03, today.

It’s an unconstitutional overreach and would restrict the number of people who would otherwise be eligible to vote.

What’s at stake?

The changes would:
Make it more difficult for citizens to qualify for Amendment 4
Expand the definition of “completion of sentence” to include monetary obligations that were not specifically ordered by a judge
Allow non-judicial private and government entities to create additional monetary barriers to voting.

What you can do

Call your state legislators and ask them to oppose this attack on voting rights – rights that were restored to millions of Floridians in last year’s election and now are at risk.
