Young Democrats Prepare for School Walkout

A group of Young Democrats attended the April meeting of the Charlotte Democratic Club to share their news and volunteer their time. Jamison Huebert, Sabrina Salovitz, Shannah Salovitz, and Lianna Hubbard spoke passionately at the monthly Charlotte County Democratic Club meeting on Saturday, April 14th. They announced their plans for the National School Walkout and led a discussion that energized the room.

Jamison described how the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas had touched his life, as a family member had just begun attending school a week before the shooting. He then asked the the Club for suggestions to increase the Young Democrats effectiveness and increase young voter turnout. Many club members spoke in turn and shared their ideas. It was a passionate and productive discussion.

Several of the Young Democrats volunteered to help the club with the semi-annual Adopt A Road cleaning of Olean Blvd.

Lianna explained the plans for the Charlotte County Walkout on April 20th, the anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting. Everyone is asked to meet at the Belltower Courtyard at FSW at 10:00 a.m. and march to Rep. Tom Rooney’s office for a rally at 11:00.
