Affordable Care Act Open Season Has Begun

Open Season for enrollment or to make a changes to insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act or “Obamacare” began on November 1 and will end on December 15.

The Trump administration is making it as difficult as possible this enrollment season, cutting the enrollment period by half and reducing funding for health care navigators, the grass-roots organizations that help people with enrollment options—funding was cut from $63 million in 2016 to $10 million this year.

As a result, there will be ONLY 1 day that navigators will be in Charlotte County – November 26. One navigator will be at the Elsie Quirk Library, 100 W. Dearborn Street in Englewood. To schedule an appointment call 239-240-7117.

However, if you need to make changes to your insurance plans or wish to enroll, your best option is to call 1- 800-318-2596 or visit the website www.healthcare.gov.

Be mindful that the Trump administration has allowed for more non-Obamacare plans to be available to consumers. These plans are cheaper but have skimpier options that don’t cover pre-existing conditions or provide many essential benefits.
