After telling Floridians that he supports abortion bans beginning “at the moment of conception” without exceptions for rape and incest, Marco Rubio admitted in a new interview that he knows his position is too extreme for Florida.
When asked by NBC6 whether he believed there should be “any exceptions at all” to abortion bans, Rubio admitted that his opposition to exceptions was far outside the mainstream. “I know that’s not a majority position,” Rubio said.
“Even Marco Rubio knows that his position of forcing victims of rape and incest to give birth is too extreme. Not only is Rubio once again putting his agenda ahead of what’s best for Floridians, he’s openly admitting that he’ll continue to support extreme abortion bans no matter what his constituents think,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.
This is just the latest example of Marco Rubio doubling down on his extreme anti-abortion agenda. Just recently, he declared that pregnant mothers deserve fewer rights than embryos and announced that he would have voted for Florida’s abortion ban, which does not include exceptions for victims of rape, incest, or human trafficking. Recent polls of Floridians show a strong majority oppose the state’s abortion ban and supported Roe v Wade.
