Voter outreach continues strong even in summer heat

By Larry Kuran, Precinct Captains’ Committee

The past few weeks have seen near record heat in Southwest Florida. Nonetheless, the Charlotte Dem’s Precinct Captains and their helpers have made steady progress in contacting Democratic voters that need to re-enroll to continue participating in Vote By Mail.

Charlotte Co. Precinct 43 Captain Larry Kuran visits voters in Weekend of Action

This is critical work as Vote By Mail has a profound effect on voter turnout. Phone bankers have contacted many voters, most of whom are unaware of the need to re-enroll after two election cycles. Precinct Captains have followed up with a door-to-door canvass of those voters yet to be contacted. So far nearly 900 doors have been knocked on throughout the County!

This canvass has been particularly rewarding as the voters have shown great appreciation for being made aware of the need to re-enroll. “Thank you so much! I can’t believe you made the effort to come to my house and let me know!” said one neighbor of Precinct 38 Co-Captain Tom Garner. “You’re very welcome! Be sure to visit our fantastic website and subscribe to our newsletter,” replied Tom.
If you would like to assist in this effort you can contact me at kuranlarry@gmail.com as we could use more volunteer assistants, like drivers, to help us make a big push at completing this crucial canvass!

Next meeting

Our next meeting/training for Precinct Captains will be on June 3rd at 5:00 pm, preceding the monthly DEC business meeting at 7:00. The Precinct Coordinating Committee continues to provide training for all interested volunteers every Friday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Come socialize with us!

Precinct Captains and volunteers are invited to join us for our social gathering on the second Thursday of every month at the Gilded Grape Winery, 4069 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. It runs from 4:00 to 6:00. Bring a friend and have fun meeting and greeting like-minded neighbors committed to taking action on behalf of our community!
