Fresh off a trip to Wisconsin and Kansas to campaign alongside anti-choice extremists, Ron DeSantis is once again leaving Florida behind. This time, he’s headed to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he will headline a fundraiser and cater to his out-of-state donor base.
While DeSantis is busy charging donors $2,500 apiece for photo-ops, new reports show that Floridians are now officially paying the highest property-insurance rates in the country. According to the Insurance Information Institute, the average Floridian now pays $4,231 per year for property insurance – almost triple the national average.
“If Ron DeSantis spent less time flying across the country to visit his mega-donors’ wealthy enclaves, he might notice that his own state has a housing affordability crisis that he has done nothing to address. Instead, he’s so focused on his political career that he is flat-out ignoring Floridians who are getting crushed by skyrocketing housing costs,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Travis Reuther.
Meanwhile, the DeSantis administration is continuing their taxpayer-funded search in Texas for Venezuelan migrants who they can exploit for political gain by luring them onto flights across the country with false promises of financial assistance and job placement services.
