Thinking of public office? This course is for you!

Chambers of commerce across the state are supporting a three-day online training for community leadership and residents wanting to be involved with a political campaign.

The training is run by the Florida Institute for Political Leadership, which is a nonpartisan program created by the Florida Chamber of Commerce to recruit and provide campaign training for candidates and elected officials.

On Jan. 18-20 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be a free online training school for candidates, residents interested in running for state or local office, people looking to help manage a campaign, or anyone interested in being active on a board or committee.

While focusing on different aspects of a campaign, the training will cover policies along with some local and state issues.

Attendees will be able to hear from state and local experts, including Sarasota County Commissioner Nancy Detert.

The Venice Area Chamber of Commerce, Sarasota Chamber and Englewood Chamber are a few of the co-hosts for the January online training.

To register for any or all of the three-day online training sessions, visit https://www.fipl.org/register/
